Meditation NYC Oct

Manhattan Meditation October Workshop

October 13 - 18, 2009. Manhattan. The final meditation workshop for 2009 was offered to several hundred New Yorkers seeking to discover peace within. Icelander Gangane Stefansson guided the seekers through 4 evenings of meditation, music and mantras in NYU Greenwich Village environs.

Gangane directs a non-profit dedicated to serving the world's children in Iceland. He is also a physical therapist and an avid runner having completed 7 marathons and 2 ultramarathons to date. A student of Sri Chinmoy since 1995, for seven years Gangane has been teaching meditation with heart-warming directness and simplicity enlivened with a light humourous touch.

Basic concentration and meditation techniques were covered throughout the four days designed to reduce stress and improve creativity. A range of inspiring topics were also offered over the course of the workshop for those interested in deepening their meditation experiences.

Delicious hot ginger tea augmented with luscious home-made brownies baked were thankfully on hand to warm everyone up during unexpected cold October rains.

On hand were numerous workshop staff to manage the many aspects of the workshop, including a display of numerous books on meditation and other meditation aids to enhance the seekers' practice.
