About us
The Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo Sri Chinmoy Meditation Groups meet weekly for meditation sessions to augment our own private practice, as well as offering free meditation classes.
Our classes
Meditation classes, workshops and lectures have been offered free for a number of years by members of the Sri Chinmoy Meditation Groups in Ann Arbor and Kalamazoo as a community service
Our free classes are given on a regular basis throughout the year and focus on the meditation essentials and establishing a personal daily meditation practice.

Mastering Meditation Classes
Week 1: The Essentials of Meditation What is meditation? How do I get started? How do I quiet my mind? How can I relax? The benefits of meditation.
Techniques Exploration of the “heart”: visualize reaching the bottom of the ocean. Breathing exercises for relaxation.
Week 2: Exploring a Meditative Lifestyle The class explains how meditation affects the body, emotions, mind and heart. Living a meditative lifestyle: adding music, readings, exercise and vegetarian diet to our daily meditation.
Techniques Chanting to bring peace and joy to the heart.
Week 3: Bringing Meditation to our Outer World The class dwells on the impact of meditation on our life. Building and maintaining poise in our outer world; problem solving; using time optimally.
Techniques Concentration to help focusing and clearing the mind.
Week 4: Looking at the Larger Picture
Basics of Indian philosophy: The aim of life; The concept of reincarnation; The three branches of Yoga; The role of the Spiritual teacher.
